Fractional Cloud Cover - Multimission

Abstract:
Derived directly from the results of the CM-SAF Cloud Mask (CM) product, the fractional cloud cover (CFC) is defined as the fraction of cloudy pixels per sub-region compared to the total number of analysed pixels in the sub-region. In this case it means that the fractional cloud cover is computed as the fraction of all pixels within a 15x15 km grid square that has been classified as either cloud-filled or cloud contaminated. The SEVIRI baseline (Europe), SEVIRI full Meteosat Disk, AVHRR baseline (Europe) and AVHRR Arctic are operational. Fractional cloud cover is expressed in percent.
