Polar Multi-Sensor Aerosol Optical Properties Climate Data Record Release 1 - Metop-A and -B

Abstract:
The Polar Multi-sensor Aerosol optical properties product (PMAp) Climate Data Record covering 2007-2019 provides aerosol optical depth (AOD, aerosol total load in the vertical column) at 550nm and aerosol type (fine mode, coarse mode (dust), volcanic ash, biomass) over ocean and land surfaces. The PMAp retrieval algorithm (v2.2.3) uses a multi-sensor approach combining Global Ozone Monitoring Experiment-2 (GOME-2), Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) and Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI) instrument data. Metop-A and –B data have been utilised for the data record. The product is delivered with the spatial resolution of the GOME-2 Polarization Monitoring Devices (PMDs). Product granules contain data for one single orbit with respect to the receiving station (Svalbard to Svalbard).
