SLSTR Level 2 Aerosol Optical Depth in NRT - Sentinel-3 for Africa

Abstract:
The Copernicus Sentinel-3 (S3) NRT AOD product quantifies the abundance of aerosol particles, and monitors their global distribution & long-range transport, at the scale of 9.5 x 9.5 km2. All observations are made available in less than 3 hours from the SLSTR observation sensing time. It is only applicable during daytime. The product is generated from the OSSAR-CS3 processor (Optimized Simultaneous Surface Aerosol Retrieval for Copernicus Sentinel-3). Since the release of the latest Collection 2 in October 2021, the overall product scientific maturity label is Preliminary operational. All information are now available in Sentinel-3 NRT Level 2 aerosol product Collection 2 (https://www.eumetsat.int/S3-nrt-l2-aerosol-product-collection-2-released-soon). The AOD products for Africa are derived by geographically filtering for products over the African continent and islands as area of interest.
