Precipitation rate at Ground by MW Conical Scanners (with indication of phase) - DMSP

Abstract:
Instantaneous precipitation maps generated from passive MW images taken by conical scanners on operational satellites in sun-synchronous orbits processed soon after each satellite pass. The retrieval algorithm is based on physically-based Bayesian approach supported by a pre- computed cloud/dynamic-radiation database (CDRD) built from meteorological situations simulated by a cloud resolving model followed by a radiative transfer model.
