Wind Chart Visible - GOES - South America

Abstract:
This product uses visible and near infrared (3.9 µm) images from the geostationary GEOS-12 satellite. The visible band's high spatial resolution and contrast between low clouds and land surface were highly beneficial from tracking cloud motions. The GWV models is used to estimate wind in the low levels (701-100 hPa); using GOES-12 to produce operationally cloud drift wind, every 15 minutes.
