ASCAT Surface Soil Moisture CDR2014-EXT time series 12.5 km sampling - Metop

Abstract:
The Metop ASCAT surface soil moisture product is based on a semi-empirical change detection method developed by TU Wien. The mulit-angle backscatter observation from Metop ASCAT are used to derive relative surface soil moisture information expressed in degree of saturation (0 - 100%). The product contains processing, correction and confidence flags to indicate the quaility of the product. The H108 Metop ASCAT SSM CDR2014-EXT represents an extension of the H25 Metop ASCAT SSM CDR2014 based on the same Level 1b input data, soil moisture retrieval algorithm and empirical model parameters.
