ASCAT Surface Soil Moisture CDR2015 time series 12.5 km sampling - Metop

Abstract:
The Metop ASCAT surface soil moisture product is based on a semi-empirical change detection method developed by TU Wien. The mulit-angle backscatter observation from Metop ASCAT are used to derive relative surface soil moisture information expressed in degree of saturation (0 - 100%). The product contains processing, correction and confidence flags to indicate the quaility of the product. The following changes have been introduced w.r.t. H25 Metop ASCAT SSM CDR2014: (1) Add Metop-B Level 1b input data, (2) Inter-beam calibration using stable backscatter targets, (3) New method to estimate slope and curvature parameters, (4) Derivation of new empirical model parameters. Data from Metop-A (2007-01-01 - 2015-12-31) & Metop-B (2013-01-01 - 2015-12-31).
