MHS AHRPT - Metop

Abstract:
The AHRPT Direct Broadcast service provides local user stations with real-time transmission of data, limited to the instantaneous sub-satellite observation. Data received through Direct Readout can be processed further using the local processing software which is available under a licence from the NWP-SAF (AAPP and RTTOVS). The Microwave Humidity Sounder (MHS) is a 5 channel instrument used to provide input to the retrieval of surface temperatures, emissivities, and atmospheric humidity. In combination with AMSU-A information it can also be used to process precipitation rates and related cloud properties, as well as to detect sea ice and snow coverage.
